Kiwi chick hatches from bad egg
A kiwi egg was found two weeks ago with a large hole on it, by a department conservation worker in Paraninihi, north Taranaki.
He straight away took it to Rainbow springs in Rotorua, where they used a shell of a different kind of egg to cover the hole, and fixed it in place with masking tape.
After 11 days of careful caring, the baby kiwi hatched successfully. He was named Fissure. I searched the word Fissure up on the internet, and I found out it meant "hole" or "small tear or crack" just like the hole in his egg!
I found this article interesting because a kiwi is a native specie of new Zealand, and I found the new word interesting as well.
