my new maths goal

My new maths goal
In my maths, I have got a new maths goal. My maths goal is to solve subtraction problems using place value to partition numbers.

Today in maths we did some of that. We had to solve a problem such as 47 - 38 = ? I we had to solve this problem by working it out like this.
47 - 30 = 17
17 - 8 = 9
First I halved the 38. then I simply subtracted 47 with the 30 in 38, which equalled 17. Then I subtracted 17 with the 8 in 38, which equalled 9. And there was my answer. It is a really simple and easy way to work it out and I would use it again.

kiwi kids news

Kiwi chick hatches from bad egg
A kiwi egg was found two weeks ago with a large hole on it, by a department conservation worker in Paraninihi, north Taranaki.

He straight away took it to Rainbow springs in Rotorua, where they used a shell of a different kind of egg to cover the hole, and fixed it in place with masking tape.

After 11 days of careful caring, the baby kiwi hatched successfully. He was named Fissure. I searched the word Fissure up on the internet, and I found out it meant "hole" or "small tear or crack" just like the hole in his egg!

I found this article interesting because a kiwi is a native specie of new Zealand, and I found the new word interesting as well.

learning goal

My Maths Learning Goal
My maths goal is to learn groupings of of 10s and 100s in a 4 - digit number. I think I have improved, but sometimes I get them wrong. In my opinion, another goal of mine is to use my times tables and division knowledge to work out problems. I prefer to draw the question as it helps me work them out.

I like using white boards  as I can keep using the white board again and again. I like group working because if I am stuck I can always chat to a buddy to help me work it out. Sometimes in maths problems I get the answer right, but because every one else gets a different answer I think mines wrong.

all together, I think I'm improving!!

kiwi kids news dino footprint found

Dinosaur footprint found in Gobi desert
A dinosaur footprint has been found in the Gobi Desert, which is in the central of Asia in case you don't know. It was longer than a meter, mesauring to an incredable size of 30 meters long and 20 meters tall. It  has been estamatied to be more than 70 million years old!

The owner of this footprint is a very rare kind called a Titanosaur, which is one of the biggest dinosaurs ever! Scientists are still looking for further information about this dinosaur. Maybe it'll    give us more clues about these creatures that roamed our earth millions of years ago....

I found this article very interesting, packed with a heap of information. It has made me look at Dinosaurs at a new angle..

blogger reflection

BLOGGER REFLECTION
Camp was fun! I especially enjoyed the hydro slide. I enjoyed it because there were lots of twists and turns, and it was a great way to hang out with all my friends!

My second favourite thing was crate climb. I got up to 13 crates! I really liked it because it challenged you to do you're best, to work hard, it involved team work, and most importantly, it taught you to never give up!

I enjoyed camp all together, and can't wait for next year!
